Why I’m All About the Website ‘About’ Page
From Blah to Brilliant: Elevate Your About Page with the Power of Copywriting
The ‘About’ page of a website is considered by many to be the trickiest page to write. But as a website copywriter, it’s my favourite web page to put together.
Why? For me, it’s the page that can really make you and your business stand out from your competitors. Because while many service businesses provide similar offerings and prices, there’s only one you.
The ‘About’ page is where you can really drive home your uniqueness and your point of difference from the rest. Even if your website is formal due to your industry.
On your ‘About’ page you can talk about your business values or mission statement, share your business journey, and talk about your expertise and experience.
Often it’s the ‘About’ page that will make a potential client choose to work with you. Maybe they like what your business stands for. Maybe they have read about your experience, and it makes them feel like you know your stuff. Or maybe you injected some personality into your bio section or mentioned a bit about yourself that resonates with them.
Whatever the reason, the ‘About’ page allows you to show what you stand for and the person or people behind your business. And people want to work with people when it comes to a service business, not a faceless company.
I also love writing ‘About’ pages because when I’m considering hiring a service provider it’s the first website page I look at to get an idea of who will be doing the job. And so many businesses just don’t utilise this powerful page. It’s such a missed opportunity – so I like to help clients get great results by refreshing this vital page.
It might sound like the ‘About’ page is all about you, but it’s actually all about attracting your ideal client. That’s where working with a website copywriter like me can help. Because even if I am writing copy about you, the strategy behind it is to appeal to your ideal audience.
